Happy Song Lyric Sunday

Today’s prompt is, “No Rules.” Which I have to start out with a comment addressing someone who had to be snarky about our President who is fighting his own battle against this Plague. Unfortunately someone thinks that by following the, “Rules, i.e. I suppose wearing a face mask, blah, blah, and triple blah you are safe from this horrible virus.” Actually you are not. No matter what you do you can minimize the risk I suppose, but if this should tell you anything is that we are all at risk. Him as the President, I am quite sure they took every precaution to keep him safe from this virus, but the hater’s out there seem to think that if only he would have worn a mask then he would not have contracted the virus. N O T !!! He is our President and people should really check themselves...My mom is a retired Infection Control Nurse, the daughter is a nurse on the Covid floor at a local hospital and my sister is also a nurse. You don’t understand how virus’s work. If they did, we would have a cure for the common cold which this virus is part of only on a more aggressive and dangerous level.

I have not worn a mask really at all. I don’t think I’m safer with a mask. I think the only people who should wear mask are the doctor’s and nurses or anyone who is in contact with infected people. Wash you hands, keep them away from your face, P E R I O D !!!! This virus is going to do what it is going to do and it is going to be over when it’s over and if anyone is responsible for the virus that would be China. I’m done with this virus, I’m so over it.

Now it’s time for my song for this Sunday…This is a song that always brings me and the husband to a great place. We sing it loud and dance it out. There are no worries when we listen to this song and if someone is down we just play it loud and proud and we forget about all our worries. He paints to this song and I plan listening to this song. Yes we are the Painter and the Planner. I think that’s kind of catchy πŸ˜‰

Here’s the song…Promised Land by Elvis !!!! Enjoy

PROMISED LAND

“Promised Land”

I left my home in Norfolk Virginia
California on my mind
I straddled that Greyhound
And rode into Raleigh
And on across Caroline

We had motor trouble that turn into a struggle
Halfway across Alabam’
And that hound broke down and left us all stranded
In downtown Birmingham

Right away I brought me a through train ticket
Ridin’ across Mississippi clean
And I was on that midnight flyer out of Birmingham
Smoking into New Orleans

Somebody help me get out of Louisiana
Just to help me get to Houston Town
There are people there who care a little about me
And they won’t let the poor boy down

Sure as you’re born brought me a silk suit
Put luggage in my hand
And I woke up high over Alberquerque
On a jet to the promised land

Working on a T-bone steak a la carte
Flying over to the golden state
Ah when the pilot told us in thirteen minutes
He would set us at the terminal gate

Swing low chariot come down easy
Taxi to the terminal zone
Cut your engines and cool your wings
And let me make it to the telephone

Los Angeles give me Norfolk Virginia
Tidewater four ten o nine
Tell the folks back home this is the promised land calling
And the poor boy is on the line

Working on a T-bone steak a la carte
Flying over to the golden state
Ah when the pilot told us in thirteen minutes
He would set us at the terminal gate

Swing low chariot come down easy
Taxi to the terminal zone
Cut your engines and cool your wings
And let me make it to the telephone

Los Angeles give me Norfolk Virginia
Tidewater four ten o nine
Tell the folks back home this is the promised land calling
And the poor boy is on the line

  1. There are so many ways that a disease can transmit itself and there’s never a guarantee that if you take all the precautions you won’t get sick. You can reduce its probability, but never totally eliminate it. How many people do you know that faithfully get a flu shot at the beginning of flu season, and get the flu anyway? And conversely, how many people do you know that get neither a flu shot nor the flu? All the years I traveled, I never got the flu and didn’t get a flu shot, either. If it weren’t an election year, we wouldn’t hear boo about it.

    Anyway, great song!

    • I am so over this whole thing. I’m just not afraid of this virus…Mom was an Infection Control Nurse, Daughter is a nurse on the Covid Floor and my oldest sister is a nurse. Mom (she’s 88) says wash your hands, keep them away from your face and most importantly go live your life. As always she ends with God is in control ❀ I'm pretty sure I already had it in December before it was Covid. So did the husband. Thanks for stopping by Mr. John, be well sending Blessings your way. I think the Covid will go away November 4th πŸ˜‰ …

      • The most I’ve been impressed with a politician is with Governor Kristy Noem of South Dakota. They had no lockdown, no mask orders, and no business shutdowns. Sure, people got sick and a couple of them died, but that would happen regardless. I saw an interview with her and she said “We in South Dakota know to wash our hands.” We’ve gone way overboard trying to keep people from getting sick, and you can’t.

      • You are so correct Mr. John. I think President Trump handled it the best way anyone could have. He’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. I’m over hiding in the closet about being a Trump supporter. He’s my President and IDCare if people want to hate. That’s their problem. This is America and we are a free country. Let us be, wear a mask if you want to, don’t if you don’t. Open up the churches !!! Religious Freedoms. I want to go to Church again. I too like her. Lockdown’s don’t work. They are just trying to control us and I don’t like it one bit !!!! Wake up people. Sorry Mr. John, I just get going and it makes me mad when I see our rights being taken away in the name of safety. It’s really hurting our kids. Let them go to school !!! I’m done, sorry for the rant πŸ˜‰

      • One thing I’ve noticed is that the news channels and their guests like to “Monday morning quarterback” everything he does. I’m seeing it in political ads, too, and I just have to laugh, like “if you knew how to fix it, why didn’t you call him and tell him?” They say “he should have listened to the scientists!” and he did just that. “He shouldn’t have defunded the CDC!” and yet you know that, as with every other government agency, there’s a lot of dead weight there that should have been cleared out a long time ago (the deputy assistant directors and their 50-person staffs, for example) and that money used for something more critical (e.g. figuring out how to get this damn virus under control). I think their biggest fear is that he won’t relapse and they’ll all be shown as the liars they are…

      • I think they know he is going to win and their heads are going to explode!!! I’m saying a rosary from now until election day. So that pretty much does it for me. As you know, I’m in Illinois so I don’t know how much my vote wild do for him as far as getting Illinois’s electoral votes. I’m still going to vote though. I think he’s going to win in a landslide !!! Happy Thursday, Mr. John. Thanks for stopping by.
