Good Song Lyric Sunday Morning

I’m up and ready to start this Sunday. I must be honest, I’m just not really feeling it today. It was easy to get a song for today’s prompt. I really love this guy. Me and the husband saw Toby Keith in Las Vegas back in the day. He put on a really great show.

The today’s prompt is, “Army, Soldier, War” for SLS comes from Mr. Jim.

Lyrics

I’m just trying to be a father
Raise a daughter and a son
Be a lover to their mother
Everything to everyone
Up and at ’em bright and early
I’m all business in my suit
Yeah, I’m dressed up for success
From my head down to my boots

I don’t do it for the money
There’s bills that I can’t pay
I don’t do it for the glory
I just do it anyway
Providing for our future’s my responsibility
Yeah, I’m real good under pressure
Being all that I can be

And I can’t call in sick on Mondays
When the weekends been too strong
I just work straight through the holidays
And sometimes all night long
You can bet that I stand ready
When the wolf growls at the door
Hey, I’m solid, hey I’m steady
Hey I’m true down to the core

And I will always do my duty
No matter what the price
I’ve counted up the cost
I know the sacrifice
Oh, and I don’t want to die for you
But if dyin’s asked of me
I’ll bear that cross with honor
‘Cause freedom don’t come free

I’m an American soldier, an American
Beside my brothers and my sisters
I will proudly take a stand
When liberty’s in jeopardy
I will always do what’s right
I’m out here on the front lines
sleep in peace tonight
American soldier, I’m an American soldier

yeah, an American soldier, an American
Beside my brothers and my sisters
I will proudly take a stand
When liberty’s in jeopardy
I will always do what’s right
I’m out here on the front lines
so sleep in peace tonight
American soldier, I’m an American

an American
an American soldier

Enjoy what’s left of your weekend. Looking forward to warmer days !!! Happy Monday, Happy Spring 🙂

Happy Tuesday…

I can’t believe I haven’t posted since last week. Just big blogging goal’s, I was even working on my editorial calendar (which is still a work in progress 😉 ) . It’s just gotten very busy around here all of the sudden like and I really haven’t had the time to blog. I’m busy with my spring cleaning, and I was so hoping I would have it all done by Memorial Day but that sure doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.

My Spring Cleaning has really turned into a new thing. Instead of cleaning, (which I’m not that fond of anymore, been there, done that) it’s turned into Spring Buying 😉 and Spring throwing away 🙂 … Shhh let’s keep the husband out of that. Let’s just say that my Target trips are my new workout 😉 . Don’t laugh, it’s a lot of working walking and buying and carrying it to the car, unloading, yadayadayada !!! But the house is really coming together. It’s fresh and new. I’ve been taking before and after pics and I’ll try posting them when I’m all done.

My absolutely fav of all are the new shelves in the kitchen…

My new shelves <3

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to come up with this idea. I just love, love, love my kitchen. What motivated me was the spring cleaning thing and the new book I was reading this month…I have really been on a reading kick this year. I have already read 4 books this year. Which is a really great thing. The first book I read, our Connor and his wife Missy bought me this one, “Where the Crawdads Sing.”

Connor &Missy <3

Aren’t they just such an adorable couple…Love them to the moon <3 One of my favorite pics of them on their Wedding Day <3 .

Then I went on with the next 3. I’m thinking the Cookbook Club spurred me on to get the shelf thing going in my kitchen. One thing led to another and I’m back doing something I absolutely love, love, love to do…Cooking and Baking, who knew.

The daughter came over on Mother’s Day and she just had to do the same thing, so me and her dad were over at her house last weekend. Got to do another run to Target and the husband was busy assembling them at her house. She’s having the same fun I’m having b/c of course I had to get her the Instapot for her Mother’s Day gift to go on the shelves, right 😉 … Here how her shelves are progressing <3 Absolutely loving this !!!

Happy Song Lyric Sunday

Happy Easter Sunday too !! It is a beautius day out here in the Midwest. I thought this would be a good song for Song Lyric Sunday…Mr. Jim’s prompt for today is

Blossom/Cherry/Flower

This is a blast from the past with two of my favorite performer’s, “Neil Diamond & Barbara Striesand singing You Don’t Bring Me Flower’s.”

You don’t bring me flowers

You don’t bring me flowers
You don’t sing me love songs
You hardly talk to me anymore
When I come through the door at the end of the day

I remember when
You couldn’t wait to love me
Used to hate to leave me
Now after lovin’ me late at night

When it’s good for you, babe
And you’re feeling alright

Well, you just roll over
And you turn out the light
And you don’t bring me flowers anymore

It used to be so natural (Used to be)
To talk about forever
But used-to-be’s don’t count anymore
They just lay on the floor ’til we sweep them away

And baby, I remember
All the things you taught me

I learned how to laugh
And I learned how to cry

Well I learned how to love
And I learned how to lie

So you’d think I could learn
How to tell you goodbye

You don’t bring me flowers anymore

Well, you’d think I could learn
How to tell you goodbye

You don’t sing to me

And you don’t sing me love songs

You don’t bring me flowers anymore

Happy April and AtoZ Begins Today and it’s Letter “A”

Yay, yay for AtoZ…My theme is the Artist’s (i.e. husband’s) original artwork. I was worried I would not have enough original paintings to get me through the alphabet, but after I started adding to my media library…No worries, I have plenty !!!

My Husband (the love of my life) The Artist <3

Today I will start out with a short bio on the Artist…He is my husband of 42 years. His day job is a suit in the city selling commercial title insurance w/an MBA in finance, because we like to eat and live indoors. He is not a starving artist. He paints at night after work. Sometimes I’ll see the light on in his studio at 1/2 in the morning. Some day when we can retire, it will be out to the Atlantic Ocean where we can set up shop and sell his painting’s and he can paint more. He gets his inspiration from the Sea.

The letter today is

From Mz. M Blog

Today I will feature one of my favorite painting’s from the Artist. He painted if for me and the title is “(A)pples in a Basket.” I just love it. It hangs in our kitchen and whenever I look at it, I think of him. I remember him painting it and I had no idea it was going to be a gift for me. I will always treasure it <3 .

Apples in a Basket

I especially enjoy this one in the fall…Enjoy All of his painting’s are available for purchase over at Handmade by Amazon…Link below…

Questions

Happy Saturday and Spring will finally arrive tonight I think that’s what they say. I’ll be asleep when it gets here at like 4 am. Just breaking the ice and browsing the reader and came upon these questions from my fellow blogger Mz. Janet . Great questions and looking forward to AtoZ.

  • What is your favorite quote. I collect them. “Fate whisper’s to the warrior, You cannot withstand the storm !!! The warrior whisper’s back, I am the storm !!!”
  • If money were no object where would you go? Alaska, I love, love, love that state…I have never been there but the adventures look endless and the weather has got to be totally amazing to experience.
  • How many places have you lived or jobs have you held? I have lived in two places, Chicago, IL and Portland, ME…I have really only had two jobs, the 1st working for the Illinois Central Gulf RR, Commuter Side/Randolph Street Station, Chicago IL and my present job for the last 42 years, Wife/Mother/Homemaker which I have loved every minute of <3 …
  • Have you tried meditation? Not in the conventional way but yes… Did it help you? It always helps. I consider mediation laying down, quieting all the noise in my mind and going to a place I have been that I loved or imagining doing something that I think would be amazing i.e. vacationing, moving to a place I would love to live. So many things and thoughts that bring me so much comfort.
  • Who would you like to meet (living or dead) for dinner?  I don’t know if this would count, but I would have to say Jesus…So many questions I have to ask and I could finally get an answer in person. Why, about so many things, what about tomorrow, when will it all be okay or when will this stop or go away. I’m not sure I would want to hear the answers but it might be comforting just sitting there talking with him. Of course I have had many conversations, albeit one-sided with him b/c, well you know. He’s a constant in my life and every day. I’ve just always talked with him 😉 and those conversations have given me peace and kept me going in the right direction.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day Blogger’s

This is a truth, whether you are Irish or not, from a family that’s thriving or one that’s struggling to stay afloat that we all need to cling to this St. Patricks Day <3 .

Back in the day <3 Love all those smiles and look at all that hair. Great Memories, Great Family <3 Happy St. Patrick’s Day <3

I thought I would just add this link on the Irish <3 It’s really true, we do handle hard times well !!!!
