The prize will be your choice of a print of any one of the Artist amazing painting’s. You could even start looking on our Amazon Homemade site for a print that you think you might want. The rules are pretty easy, just ask Melanie. It was a while ago so I’m not sure even if she’s the one who won our last contest. I think I will change the rules up a bit as to give my follower’s a chance at winning too !!!! Butter vs Margarine

Good Saturday morning blogging family. Starting out my week in the blogosphere on a positive note. Getting back into my challenges and so today is the start of my week with #SoCS. Thank you, Mz. Linda for the prompt…”Butter.”

Mom was a nurse back in the 60’s when margarine was first introduced and it was suppose to be healthier for you. Raising a family (4 girls and dad) margarine was the obvious choice. I was in grade school so I really didn’t pay any attention at all to butter/margarine and just thought everything was butter that was yellow and in the butter dish. I only knew that I wanted it to be soft so as not to destroy the toast when I was using it to butter my toast.

My mom grew up on a farm in Wisconsin and my grandpapa worked at the dairy after the boys grew up an went away b/c he was getting on in years and running the farm would be to much for him. Whenever we went to visit grandmama & grandpapa I always wondered why the butter tasted so much better at their house than ours back in Chicago.

Love you, Grandpapa

When we were up at the farm one day, I asked my mom why the butter tasted so much better here. It was lighter and fluffier. The color was a pale yellow, almost a tint not like ours at home where it was Y E L L O W !!!! They didn’t keep it in butter keeper per se it was more like a dish and it was definitely more that a stick of butter. More like a slab and was it ever good on grandmama’s homemade cinnamon rolls just out of the oven.

In fact she used butter in almost everything. I would watch her cook. She would slather it on her dough’s as she was making her breads. She would carve out a chunk and throw it in her soups, spaghetti sauces, chili’s. She would add more to all the noodles and pasta. Every frosting she ever made, that’s right there was butter in it. She would even take it and butter up her hands before kneading the dough or working with any kind of food !!!

We got on the subject of butter and how it tasted so much better up here in Wisconsin. When grandpapa heard us he responded, “That’s because your mother probably uses that other stuff that’s suppose to be good for you. I better not find it here in my house. We’re really dairy people here. This is Wisconsin after all, “The Dairy State.” Grandmama just looked at all of us with her cheeky little grin, and gave us a wink πŸ˜‰ .

When I started homemaking, it wasn’t a choice. Butter it will be and butter it has always been ❀ . Don’t care about the cost or being better for me, I just love, love, love the taste of butter. There’s a reason it costs more….You get what you pay for πŸ˜‰ .

March’s Masterpiece…

Good Tuesday morning blogging family ❀ Hope everyone had a great weekend. Our Chicago Blackhawks split the games this weekend. Patrick Kane got his 400th goal so that was fun to watch. Still no Toews though… Wonder what’s up with the Captain.

My rose did not make it through the snowstorm 😦 The other one didn’t do much better either..

This was before the snowstorm and what it looked like through January …I think some music would fit nicely here…

My Yellow Rose

The painter finished his Potatoe Eater’s/Vincent Van Gogh’s…It turned out really well don’t you think πŸ˜‰ ….

Two for Tuesday

I’ve lost count on how many winter storms we have been through this year in Chicago. Yes we had another one yesterday. I am so done with the snow !!! I lost my yellow rose yesterday 😦

Before the winter storm hit
Fall and the last bud never made it through the first frostBefore the storm. But this is how it looked before the storm hit !!! I wonder what it’s going to look like when all this snow melts ???

Winter Storm Uri…I guess they’ve started to name the Storms which I find annoying. Maybe it’s because I am just so done with this winter !!!!

We are so up to our b….s in snow. I think it will probably be May before we’ll see the light at the end of the tunnel…

This ruler isn’t even all the way down…We got probably 16″+ and drifting of snow…
My Yellow Rose got eaten in the snow…I hope it survives !!!! A couple more pics of the storm OMG !!!
Front Yard !!! OMG...
I got my Coffee so it’s all good…Nespresso it’s amazing !!! I love it ❀ .

Happy Freezing, Frigid Song Lyric Sunday

Good Sunday Morning from the below zero ( πŸ˜‰ -20 w/c ) midwest Chicago. Now I remember why I need to move !!! I’m not going out at all today. Yes it’s a good day to be blogging and baking.

My song for song lyric Sunday prompt, “Think/Brain/Mind” from Mr. Jim is

Mind Games/John Lennon

We’re playing those mind games together
Pushing the barrier planting seed
Playing the mind guerrilla
Chanting the Mantra “peace on earth”
We all been playing those mind games forever
Some kinda druid dude lifting the veil
Doing the mind guerrilla
Some call it magic the search for the grail Love is the answer and you know that for sure
Love is a flower
You got to let it, you gotta let it grow So keep on playing those mind games together
Faith in the future out of the now
You just can’t beat on those mind guerrillas
Absolute elsewhere in the stones of your mind
Yeah we’re playing those mind games forever
Projecting our images in space and in time Yes is the answer and you know that for sure
Yes is surrender
You got to let it, you gotta let it goSo keep on playing those mind games together
Doing the ritual dance in the sun
Millions of mind guerrillas
Putting their soul power to the karmic wheel
Keep on playing those mind games forever
Raising the spirit of peace and love
Love
I want you to make love, not war
I know you’ve heard it beforeSource:Β LyricFindSongwriters: John LennonMind Games lyrics Β© Downtown Music Publishing

What a great and appropriate song for today’s blog !!! One last thought, I absolutely love living in people’s head rent free, Bahahaahahaaaaa is how I think the troll’s might react…Happy Valentine’s Day ❀ A great song from one of the most amazing artist’s of all time.

Monday’s Masterpiece

Happy Monday, Blogging fam…Hoping everyone had the best weekend ever and that your team won yesterday. We had didn’t have a dog in the race so all we did was make fun food. I tried my hand at a, “Beautiful Board !!”

It was so good and sooo much fun to make. I added some Queso Dip w/Pretzel Bread and some little smoky’s with sauce, very delicious ❀ .

The husband has been working on on The Potato People, oops I mean the Potato Eater’s…Here is his progression.

Looking good

Finally today we are still freezing and yes it’s snowing again but I’m indoors with the love of my life, the husband and this morning when we went out to get coffee I remember why I fell in love with him. We had our singing moment, love the singing brings me back to when we were a couple of kids just loving life. Here’s the song we were singing too, we each know our parts πŸ˜‰ Enjoy

thankful thursday

“Are You My Mother” is the title of this post’s featured picture…This was when we first got little Mz. Rosie and she thought our sweet Mz. Bella was her mom, awwww too cute !!! ❀ .

Good Thursday morning blogger’s, same song, second verse, blah, blah, blah…Winter Weather Advisory…yes more snow, wind, ice, and below zero temperatures !!! January in Chicago, but life is always so much better when you are thankful for a new day, no matter..

Just a few updates to share with my blogging fam…The Potato People is coming along…

The Potato Eater’s/Vincent

The artist will be working on his painting this weekend b/c I’m sure we will be inside. It’s payday this week. That’s always a good thing. I’m getting my hair done with my very best friend’s tomorrow so looking forward to that.

I think I’ll add some music today. Music soothes the soul and can heal. Singing and dancing is the fabric of my life. It gets me through the worst of times ❀ . This ones for you Connie ❀ .

The “Vid” seems to be going away, imagine that. Who would have thunk that after President Trump was out of office, all of the sudden it’s gone. They really must thing we’re stupid, NOT…. I live in a blue state so for some reason they want us shut down still. I guess that fat old Pritzker wants to get as many of the fed’s dollar’s to waist as he can. I’m not going to think about him, I’m just going to focus getting out of here (Illinois) asap !!!! Move to a red state, and find some freedom and sanity while this is still America land of the free !!!!

Here’s a thought to think about. When your 20 years old, you have a heart ❀ . When your 40 years old, you now have a brain πŸ˜‰ . Thank God, I’m in the latter category πŸ™‚ …

Signing off for this morning, time for coffee with the husband and get my day going…He’s out on a walk with our new friend Mz. Rosie ❀ She’s a bundle of energy and has so much Rosie Love ❀ …

A Work in Progress…Monday’s Masterpiece

The Artist is still working on the Potato People i.e. Eater’s…Looking good so far. He keeps saying you have to remember this guy (Vincent) was a CooCoo Bird. I guess you might draw that conclusion from looking at this painting. I think you might have to dig a little deeper than that though. Here is how he’s progressing with Monday’s Masterpiece…

The Artist looking at the computer and Rose sleeping ❀
The Potato Eater’s
This is where he left off on Sunday Evening…

It’s coming along nicely don’t you think. We spent most of the weekend indoors b/c of all the snow. Binge watching, “Friends” of all things. That was Saturday night and then yesterday was, “The Dead Poets Society” and we watched the Chicago Blackhawk’s vs. CBJ win Y A Y…

QUESTIONS:

If the government offered to suspend all laws, and law enforcement for 24 hours, letting you (and everybody else) do whatever you wish… Would you be in favor of it, or not?  (Credit for this question goes to Cyranny and her Daily Quickie Question)

Never, No Way, Not for one little miniute…We have laws now and nobody follows them now or enforces them and look at the mess it has created…

What would be the creepiest thing you could say while passing a stranger on the street?(We’re suspending the whole social distancing and Covid involvement in this scenario)

As a child, what did you think would be great about being an adult, but isn’t as great as you thought it would be?
