I guess it’s just happy everything day <3 I’m going to throw this blog post up quickly while the husband is out walking our Rosie (thechicagobrowndog, no that’s really a breed 😉 )
We sure do love her. Took her up and got her a bath today, new collar, new toy. We do love our doogie <3 Very special dog !!!! Now I’ll get back to the blog.
It’s been a really great holiday weekend…Family, food and fun which is always a great way to start out the summer…Y A Y Must add some music for today…Let’s Rock n Roll !!!! This one’s for my Connor…Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap !!!!
We spent Saturday running errands for our get together with our daughter and her family, her Guy, Cordell and his mom GiGi and of course the granddaughters !!! Everyone is just growing up so fast. Here are some pics of the family <3 We love you all to the moon and me and GiGi dressed the same right down to our jewelry and we didn’t even coordinate it that way. We are truly one brain 😉 .
The food was amazing…We did the BBQ with out of this world grill packets filled with all sort of yummy food. Shrimp, Chicken, potatoes, veggies…So good and Mr. Cordell did an amazing job on the grill !!!!
I brought some side dishes …Apple Snicker Salad and Baked Beans along with the Small Cakes for dessert…
Time to get my summer on because before you know it, it’s 4th of July and the summer is over Mr. Nightlinger 😉 Three birthdays, Matthew/June, Connor/July, Me, Lizzie, & Missy/August and throw in an anniversary and the summer just flies by. Add a vaca somewhere, not quite sure where yet, but yes I think the summer really is over.
Just kidding 😉 Be safe and enjoy the summer <3 Blessings from Scarlett <3 .
Going over to the daughter’s home for dinner !!! On the menu for today are grilled foiled bags with shrimp, chicken and all kinds of other yummy stuff. I’m bringing Baked Beans, Snicker Apple Salad, and a quick trip on the way to small cakes for dessert…I’m getting hungry 😉
I have to admit the Smallcakes almost didn’t make it there in tack…Thankfully they gave us a free one so Grampapa & me, Grandmama got our sugar high w/o digging into the dozen 😉 .

American girls and American guys We’ll always stand up and salute We’ll always recognize When we see Old Glory flying There’s a lot of men dead So we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our headMy daddy served in the army Where he lost his right eye but he flew a flag out in our yard Until the day that he died He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me To grow up and live happy In the land of the freeNow this nation that I love has fallen under attack A mighty sucker punch came flyin’ in from somewhere in the back Soon as we could see clearly Through our big black eye Man, we lit up your world Like the fourth of JulyHey Uncle Sam, put your name at the top of his list And the Statue of Liberty started shakin’ her fist And the eagle will fly man, it’s gonna be hell When you hear mother freedom start ringin’ her bell And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you Brought to you courtesy of the red white and blueJustice will be served and the battle will rage This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage And you’ll be sorry that you messed with The U.S. of A. ‘Cause we’ll put a boot in your ass It’s the American wayHey uncle sam put your name at the top of his list And the Statue of Liberty started shakin’ her fist And the eagle will fly it’s gonna be hell When you hear mother freedom start ringin’ her bell And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you Brought to you courtesy of the red white and blueOh oh of the red, white and blue Oh oh of my red, white and blue
God Bless the USA
If tomorrow all my things were gone, I’d worked for all my life. And I had to start again, With just my children and my wife.I’d thank my lucky stars, To be livin’ here today. ‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom, And they can’t take that away. And I’m proud to be an American, Where at least I know I’m free. And I won’t forget the men who died, Who gave that right to me. And I gladly stand up, Next to you and defend her still today. ‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land, God bless the USA.From the lakes of Minnesota, To the hills of Tennessee. Across the plains of Texas, From sea to shining sea. From Detroit down to Houston, And New York to L.A. Well there’s pride in every American heart, And its time we stand and say. That I’m proud to be an American, Where at least I know I’m free. And I wont forget the men who died, Who gave that right to me. And I gladly stand up, Next to you and defend her still today. ‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land, God bless the USA.And I’m proud to be an American, Where at least I know I’m free. And I wont forget the men who died, Who gave that right to me. And I gladly stand up, Next to you and defend her still today. ‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land, God bless the USA.
I have wasted all morning on the computer, so I might as well post something. I’m thinking I’m going to get my summer on with some road trip music first !!! I’ll start out with something for Connor <3 this one’s for you !!!
The next song I’m going to choose for my summer road trip is from Jackson Brown . Let’s go back to Rock n’ Roll and the 70’s Y A Y <3 !!!! This one’s for me !!!
I was looking for some pictures from the past Memorial Day’s and I came across all of the baby picture’s from all of us girl’s (the 4 sister’s)…I’ll share it with you, along with the Grandmama/Great Grandmama (my Mom)
Isn’t my mom so pretty <3 I love you Mom … It’s important to be a part of something so special <3 , a family … Thank you mom for being you <3 To the moon <3 .
Let’s get some music going, pre-memorial day weekend…Y A Y for the summer…This one’s for you Connie <3 Still remembering you dancing w/Joffrey in Chicago to this song 😉 . Never, never forget the good times
Happy Tuesday blogger’s…I have been meaning to jump on and write a blog but have just been so busy, busy, busy. I can’t believe I have all my flower’s planted, I made a wildflower butterfly/hummingbird garden out back and it’s not even memorial day. Y A Y for me and the husband !!!! I’ll be spending a lot of time out back here, very peaceful <3 . We also bought a brand new, spanking charbroil grill this year, double Y A Y…It’s been a while since I’ve had one of those and I am so excited. I’ve already used it twice and we have only had it 2 days 😉 .
This is my Butterfly/Hummingbird/Wildflower garden…Isn’t is just beautius !!!! I still need to get a bird house and a humming bird feeder in there. I just love it though.
Here is the front of our home. This is where my roses are. I planted them a couple of years ago and they are just doing fantastic even though the bunnies destroyed they over the winter months…
Finally a look at our new Car-broil grill…It’s really beautiful and I am so excited to put it to use. Absolutely one of may favorite things to do…BBQ in the summer !!! Happy Summer to all. It’s going to be great <3 . I hope yours will too <3 .
I can’t believe I haven’t posted since last week. Just big blogging goal’s, I was even working on my editorial calendar (which is still a work in progress 😉 ) . It’s just gotten very busy around here all of the sudden like and I really haven’t had the time to blog. I’m busy with my spring cleaning, and I was so hoping I would have it all done by Memorial Day but that sure doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.
My Spring Cleaning has really turned into a new thing. Instead of cleaning, (which I’m not that fond of anymore, been there, done that) it’s turned into Spring Buying 😉 and Spring throwing away 🙂 … Shhh let’s keep the husband out of that. Let’s just say that my Target trips are my new workout 😉 . Don’t laugh, it’s a lot of working walking and buying and carrying it to the car, unloading, yadayadayada !!! But the house is really coming together. It’s fresh and new. I’ve been taking before and after pics and I’ll try posting them when I’m all done.
My absolutely fav of all are the new shelves in the kitchen…
I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to come up with this idea. I just love, love, love my kitchen. What motivated me was the spring cleaning thing and the new book I was reading this month…I have really been on a reading kick this year. I have already read 4 books this year. Which is a really great thing. The first book I read, our Connor and his wife Missy bought me this one, “Where the Crawdads Sing.”
Aren’t they just such an adorable couple…Love them to the moon <3 One of my favorite pics of them on their Wedding Day <3 .
Then I went on with the next 3. I’m thinking the Cookbook Club spurred me on to get the shelf thing going in my kitchen. One thing led to another and I’m back doing something I absolutely love, love, love to do…Cooking and Baking, who knew.
The daughter came over on Mother’s Day and she just had to do the same thing, so me and her dad were over at her house last weekend. Got to do another run to Target and the husband was busy assembling them at her house. She’s having the same fun I’m having b/c of course I had to get her the Instapot for her Mother’s Day gift to go on the shelves, right 😉 … Here how her shelves are progressing <3 Absolutely loving this !!!
It was the best Mother’s Day ever !!! I’m not blogging til this morning b/c just been so busy. A really great kind of busy. Yes it was Mother’s Day weekend and I wasn’t sure how it was going to go as my kiddos are all over the the place i.e. East Coast, Midwest yadayadayada. Also the daughter is a nurse so I kind of figured she would probably have to work. So I told the husband let’s celebrate it on Saturday and all I really wanted was to go out south (where we use to live, south side of Chicago and visit our old stomping grounds). We could pick up some Aurelios Pizza (the Original one that started it all) and Krispy Kreme’s, probably the only one that’s left out here.
I just really need to put this Garth Brooks in here. I absolutely love it ♥️. It’s just the best song ever about mom’s ♥️ .
So out south we went and the weather was really crappy. Cold & windy, rainy and cloudy but I didn’t care. It’s all about the food. So off we went and I got a yummy Aurelio’s Pizza and 2 dozen Krispy Kreme’s. Needless to say they were gone by the time we got home. Well not the 2 dozen doughnuts, but the pizza was 😉 and the husband had a meatball sandwich. Those are just the empty boxes 😉😋
Then on Sunday Mother’s Day I was just going to chill and play with my planner stuff when the doorbell rings and it’s our Matthew, yes our #3 son all the way from Virginia. I was beyond happy as I haven’t seen him in a long time b/c of this whole pandemic thing, blah, blah, blah. He drove all the way here from Richmond, Virginia to just spend the day w/his mom. What a great son 🌹🌹
That was just the best surprise ever and I gave him a big hug and kiss and nothing ever felt so good as seeing and holding my son…What a great Mother’s Day ♥️. Thank you so much Matthew for choosing me as your mom ♥️ .
Matthew was able to hang around on Monday b/c he really wanted to see the sister too and all of his nieces and catch up with Cordell. So me and Matthew ran out to our favorite Sub place and picked up a bunch of subs and we all spent the afternoon together just having a ball. The grand babies just love my bed and so they were busy in grandmama’s room messing the whole thing up. Love all the giggles 🥰🥰
Just for a reference point with my beauties bed…This is how it looked before grandbabies got to it . The little one Mariah just loves, loves loves snuggling in it ♥️♥️
After the afternoon pizza party with everyone, Matthew had to hit the road. He left around 5:30pm back to Virginia which made me worry b/c I don’t like the whole driving thing cross country at night. He hugged me and told me everything would be fine and he’d stop for the night when he got tired and finish his journey home today. I got a text from him about 12:30 am telling me he was in Pittsburg and would be stopping for the night. I slept better knowing he was off the road ♥️♥️ It’s a mom thing.
After he left me and my girl’s went shopping to get a vase for the beautiful flowers b/c I’ve been spring cleaning and must have stored all my vases somewhere but we found a very pretty one and as per usual me and the daughter share a brain and we picked out the same vase 🥰 Then a quick trip to Starbucks for the girls and I dropped them home. She also brought me my absolutely favorite gift of all a new cup…I always need a new cup and this was just beautius. Loving the Hand Sanitizer from the Nurse 🤗🤗
Arrived back home last night around 8pm and our home was filled with flower’s, Happy Mother’s Day cards, and most importantly so much family love ♥️. Pretty sure Matthew will make it home safely and all is so right in my Mom world ♥️. Thank you so much kiddos for choosing me as your Mom. It is such an honor and I love you all ♥️♥️ …
Would you rather be a super nice person and be depressed all your life, or be happy and a total *sshole? (Credit goes to Cyranny for this question, aired on one of her “Cyranny’s Quickies” posts.) Well I’m not sure it has to be either or, but I think for most of my life I was the nice person and that was my problem. When I turned into the blankety, blank I enjoyed being happy and realized that life is short … eat the cake 😉 .
Have you ever made someone cry? Probably, but not on purpose.
Are you a dreamer or a go-getter? I’m more of dreamer. It’s more fun to dream, being a go-getter brings stress. There is more joy in dreams <3 .
If you were in a band, what instrument would you play? Well that’s an easy one for anyone who knows me, the piano of course…
Do you feel gratitude is necessary? Gratitude is how I get through my day. Being thankful can cure anything. My gratitude journal sits right beside my bed on my nightstand.
I never go to sleep w/o that simple, two word prayer every night, “Thank You.” It always makes for a happier morning. Blessings Blogger’s on your week
