So happy to be back this Sunday morning!!! I’m totally feeling the today’s prompt for SLS, brought to us by Mr. Jim. This weeks theme is, “Songs that hit the top of the charts.”
Lake Shore Drive
There’s a road I’d like to tell you about, lives in my home town Lake Shore Drive the road is called and it’ll take you up or down From rags on up to riches fifteen minutes you can fly Pretty blue lights along the way, help you right on by And the blue lights shining with a heavenly grace, help you right on by
And there ain’t no road just like it Anywhere I found Running south on Lake Shore Drive heading into town Just slippin’ on by on LSD, Friday night trouble bound
And it starts up north from Hollywood, water on the driving side Concrete mountains rearing up, throwing shadows just about five Sometimes you can smell the green if your mind is feeling fine There ain’t no finer place to be, than running Lake Shore Drive And there’s no peace of mind, or place you see, than riding on Lake Shore Drive
And there ain’t no road just like it Anywhere I found Running south on Lake Shore drive heading into town Just slicking on by on LSD, Friday night trouble bound
And it’s Friday night and you’re looking clean Too early to start the rounds A ten minute ride from the Gold Coast back make sure you’re pleasure bound And it’s four o’clock in the morning and all of the people have gone away Just you and your mind and Lake Shore Drive, tomorrow is another day And the sunshine’s fine in the morning time, tomorrow is another day
And there ain’t no road just like it Anywhere I found Running south on Lake Shore drive heading into town Just snaking on by on LSD, Friday night trouble bound
What a great way to start the weekend <3 Our Matthew came home and took us the the ball park…Guaranteed Rate Field aka Comiskey Park …Y A Y our own Chicago White Sox who hopefully will go all the way. Meaning they will win the World Series. Their season has been great. I believe they have been in 1st place pretty much all year. This was our second game this season. The guys out in Richmond, bought their dad tickets for Father’s Day, that was the first game we went too.
It was a perfect night for baseball 70’s and clear…Great seats, 100 level !!! Everything was pretty much normal. We didn’t have to mask up…Y A Y !!!! Everyone was just outside having a great night watching a baseball game…Life as normal 😉 …
We had a great time and I just love my guys…Family is all there is and I couldn’t be prouder than to be their mom…We are loved <3 … Happy Saturday oh and by the by they won so double Y A Y, Y A Y….
This is a good one Mr. Jim. Me and the husband just went down his memory lane of when the girls use to dump him. It was always the same. “Let’s be friends, I need some time. I’m scared. ” He says there must be manual girls are given to dump a guy. He is too funny and always makes me laugh.
My song for today is, “Billy Ray Cyrus/Words by Heart”
I was goin’ through the closet Back in my old home Found my letterman’s jacket, so I slipped it on Deep in the pocket, still folded up tight Was the letter you wrote to tell me goodbye The minute I saw it I just had to smile It smelled like old leather, as smooth as a child I took a deep breath, then put it away There was no need to read, I knew just what it would sayI know the words by heart, I know every line From “this ain’t easy” to “you’ll get along just fine” I know every comma, every question mark No, I don’t have to look, I know the words by heartScenes like home movies flash through my head The homecoming game, that night on my bed The words that you wrote still cut me in two How you said you still cared but that we were throughI know the words by heart, I know every line From “this ain’t easy” to “you’ll get along just fine” I know every comma, every question mark No, I don’t have to look, I know the words by heartAin’t it funny how a memory Can play tricks on your mind I don’t remember a thing from my classes But I can quote you every lineI took off my jacket and put it away With your note in the pocket Like I found it that day Poured me a beer, then pictured your face And drank a silent toast to things that time can’t eraseI know the words by heart, I know every line From “this ain’t easy” to “you’ll get along just fine” I know every comma, every question mark No, I don’t have to look, I know the words by heartI know the words by heart, I know every line From “this ain’t easy” to “you’ll get along just fine” I know every comma, every question mark No, I don’t have to look, I know the words by heart
I also have a second song that I enjoy watching. It reminds me of me back in the day and also sends a message to all my critics…Success is the best revenge. I will never, never quit <3 Blessing Blogger’s on your Sunday…I know I just posted this song by Toby Keith a couple of weeks ago, but I really love it…Obviously 😉
Happy Tuesday, blogger’s…It’s always a little harder getting going after a 3 day weekend but I’m up and starting the day. After the 4th a sense of urgency comes on and I feel like, “Summer’s over Mr. Nightlinger 😉 .”
The Artist was busy painting this weekend. I’m really enjoying these past oil paintings. I have already have a spot for them in our home. Don’t worry if you like them, they are on our Amazon Handmade acct. for purchase (at least the pair is) . I still have to load, “Storm Front”.
Also getting busy on my planner/planner area. I’m not even going to post until I’ve got that under control b/c quite frankly it looks like a hot mess…No bother though, I’ll get it together and it will be beautius for sure <3
Since it’s 2/2 Tuesday I thought I’d put up a couple of songs…The first one always makes me smile because I remember times from years gone by where this song makes me feel this way, only I’m not living in their radio probably just their head 😉 and it’s rent free 😉 …
It’s going to be a busy week b/c I only have 4 days to work with…Appts., houseclean, menu plan & groceries, Target run of course, yadayadayadayda…I’ve also got so behind in my, “10 Year Journal” I’m determined to get caught up on it !!! Oh and I’ve got to fit a mani/pedi in there somewhere, ahhhhh 😉 . I know, I’m spoiled. It’s the husband’s fault. He’s a great guy <3 and I love him to pieces <3
My second choice for my song today is, “Perfect”. The husband and me always give each other songs and he gave me this one. He said it reminds him of us b/c we were just kids when we met and fell into forever with each other (he was 20 and I was 16 😉 ), 42nd wedding anniversary this year… Together 45 years, OMG <3 .
Have a great week and get busy…Summer’s over Mr. Jebediah Nightlinger 😉 …
p.s We use to do Community Theatre every summer and I came across this picture of one of the shows we did…How did you think the kiddos became professional dancer’s, singer’s, musicians ??? It wasn’t by accident, Mom and Dad had a little something to do with it. Uber talented family, started with my mom 😉 and everyone has the DNA…I was a piano player and the husband is the Artist (not his day job, OMG starving artist, I don’t think so 😉 ) …Even though they all took a different direction, they were amazing on stage performing, of course I may be a bit prejudice. 😉 …
Good Monday morning <3 Hoping everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July…The Artist and me had a wonderful weekend…Road Trip out to our fav places from back in the day 😉
Then on Sunday the 4th was a chill kind of day w/the Artist painting and me planning…Love, love, love to plan. Today will just be a reset kind of day where we keep wondering what day it is 😉 Does that happen to anyone else on these 3 day weekends ???
The other painting he just started yesterday, but I’m thinking it’s going to be a fav of mine !!! Don’t forget you can visit our Handmade by Amazon site and purchase any of his amazing artwork…Just follow the link <3
The weekend started out really great with me and the granddaughter getting our hair done, Chic Filet for lunch and then of course Starbucks to top off the fun day…
So much fun at the salon…Shout out to our forever beauty stylist…Mz. Lisa <3 Thank you so much for making us beautiful again <3 . Oh and I can’t forget the flower’s my wonderful husband bought for me <3 .
Back to business this week, a lot of irons in the fire. Starting a major remodel on the home but then by the end of this year it will all be done. I will update with pics of our beautius home. Let’s enjoy the rest of the summer. Busy, busy month w/birthday’s, anniversary (42nd <3 ) and vacation to New Smyrna Beach, Florida Y A Y !!!! Blessings Blogger’s on your Monday <3 … 😉
This is one of my favorite holiday’s !!! It’s summer, I love to BBQ on the grill, Fireworks are just the best…What’s not to love. Still missing the carnivals and summer concerts !!! Next year will be better I hope that we can get back to the summer festivals and concerts. I’m really missing those, at least I have the memories which will have to do for now. Jim’s pick for today’s Song Lyric Sunday is, “American Music <3 ” I remember a staple of our’s in summers past. They were of course the, “Ides of March” summer concerts at the festivals we use to go too. So much fun. The Ides are a Chicago staple, Jim Peterik who is the lead singer of the band is a native of Berwyn (a suburb of Chicago).
Because they were a local we always got seats right up front and Jim Peterik kind of got to know us. In fact at one of their concerts he came right down in the audience and kissed me during the song, “Searching.” I’ll never forget, it was the thrill of a lifetime 😉 .
My song for today is one of their biggest hits and he always waits til the end of the concert, i.e. the last song to play it…That would be, “Vehicle” of course !!!
He really is an amazing artist, performer, singer, writer, yadayadayada <3 An all around great guy. Makes you feel like your just one of his friends <3 I’ll be looking forward to seeing him and his band, the Ides performing again <3 …
Hope all of you are enjoying your summer and having the best 4th of July ever. Eat all the great food you can and celebrate this country. Because I’ve always said, “If your lucky enough to live in America, then you are lucky enough !!!”
It’s write anything Wednesday and I just realized it’s June 30th, OMG. This is the day me and the husband always say, “Summer’s over Mr. Nightlinger,” and this year is no different. He said that to me as he was getting out of the car this morning on his way to work in Chicago 😉 . It’s from a John Wayne movie we both love to watch, from back in the day.
I guess I really haven’t been blogging lately b/c I just am not really focused. It’s kind of like I just don’t have much to say other that I’m feeling really, I guess the word is “Wonky” from how our summer is moving along. It started out as most of things do like any other summer. The weather was warm, it’s baseball again Y A Y, I have all kind of plans and I’m feeling really positive, just happy I have made it through another Chicago Winter. Oh yeah and happy for some kind of normalcy again i.e. the Vid is under control and I can see so many smiles and people are getting back to the chit/chat again. Another huge Y A Y for that 🙂 !!! Except for the fact that now they are once again trying to control us by some kind of variant …oooh we all should be scared and put our masks back on.
No Way … Not Now, Not Ever Again !!!
Unless of course I become a Doctor and need to when I operate on someone, which I’m pretty sure will never happen. Me and the husband had the Vid before it was the Vid (that’s what the daughter/covid nurse) calls it, and we are both totally vaccinated … So no way am I going there, some stupid lockdown. Sorry I digress, I just get so mad at the control that the government thinks they have over our lives. They steal our money by taxing us to death and then try and convince us it’s for infrastructure. What is it that they say, “Good intentions are paved on the road to Hell.” Or something like that.
I’m taking my cues from people who know up close and personal the risks, and that would be my daughter who I have been hugging since before they locked us down. My mother who is a retired Infection Control Nurse for over 40 years and my oldest sister who is also an RN…
We just had a great time as a family being together and celebrating life, love and being a family <3 … Something that for some reason has been labeled a dangerous situation to your life…OMG really, it’s not going to go on in my world ever again. Life is dangerous. Move on, get over it !!! I love my family and I’m going to spend every moment I can with them !!!! Which brings me to the point of this post, “Father’s Day.” Yes, Father’s Day. It was a fun day even though family was not able to spend it with dad…The kiddos got us baseball tickets to our beloved White Sox. What a great gift !!! That’s where me and my husband, their dad, had our first date, 45 years ago. A nighttime, Fireworks game at the old Comiskey Park vs. the Milwaukee Brewer’s who were still in the American League. I even remember the date, July 16, 1976…
The pictures above were from a couple of years ago. We did spend last Sunday out at the Ballpark, Guaranteed Rate Field. It was a beautiful day and we got to watch a lot of baseball b/c it was sort of a double header. It was the game from Saturday that they had to pause and then it was the game the kiddos got us tickets for on Father’s Day…They split it, lost the first one and then won the second game. But it’s always a great day win or lose out at the ballpark <3 It’s our happy place…
Y A Y for our Chicago White Sox b/c I guess they are in 1st place and we had so much fun. I didn’t go to any games last year so I had forgotten how much fun it was. The weather was beautiful and we had great tickets <3 Thanks to the kiddos <3 . The only thing that was missing was them but that’s what kids do, they grow up and go live their lives which makes this mom & dad very happy. Thanks to iPhones they were there with us during the whole games…i.e. texting and facetiming.
Happy to get this post up and returning to my blog. That too is my Happy Place b/c of all of you out there in the the blogosphere … I hope everyone is having a great summer. I have all the tools I need for a happy summer, my grill being the most important. The Flower’s are all planted and I even got tomatoes going and they are looking pretty good. Happy Summer, Happy 4th of July…Blessings Blogger’s and thanks for stopping by.
