Song Lyric Sunday

Back home from a long, long road trip but it was great !!!  I’ll save that for tomorrow. Today’s prompt for Song Lyric Sunday is truck/bus/lorry…  Like I said I was just on the road for what seemed like forever and I’m a big fan of trucks. The husband is a great driver, he’s so safe. He gets behind one of those big 18 wheeler’s and basically follows him home. Riding in back of the trucker is the safe haven for us on the road.  Here is today’s song…It’s Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler) by Alabama.

This song was going through my head the whole way there and back. It’s a great road tripping tune ❤  and me and the husband sing a lot when we are on the road.

Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler)
Roll On
Roll on highway, roll on along
Roll on daddy till you get back home
Roll on family, roll on crew
Roll on momma like I asked you to do
And roll on eighteen-wheeler roll on (Roll on)
Well it’s Monday morning, he’s kissin’ momma goodbye
He’s up and gone with the sun
Daddy drives an eighteen-wheeler
And he’s off on a midwest run
As three sad faces gather ’round momma
They ask her when daddy’s comin’ home
Daddy drives an eighteen-wheeler
And they sure miss him when he’s gone (Yeah they do)
Ah, but he calls them every night and he tells them that he loves them
He taught them this song to sing
Roll on highway, roll on along
Roll on daddy till you get back home
Roll on family, roll on crew
Roll on momma like I asked you to do
And roll on eighteen-wheeler, roll on (roll on)
Well it’s Wednesday evening, momma’s waitin’ by the phone
It rings but it’s not his voice
Seems the highway patrol has found a jack-knifed rig
In a snow bank in Illinois
But the driver was missin’ and the search had been abandoned
For the weather had everything stalled
And they had checked all the houses and the local motels
When they had some more news they’d call
And she told them when they found him to tell him that she loved him
And she hung up the phone singin’
Roll on highway, roll on along
Roll on daddy till you get back home
Roll on family, roll on crew
Roll on momma like I asked you to do
And roll on eighteen-wheeler roll on
Momma and the children will be waiting up all night long
Thinkin’ nothing but the worst is comin’
With the ringin’ of the telephone
Oh, but the man upstairs was listening
When momma asked him to bring daddy home
And when the call came in it was daddy on the other end
Askin’ her if she had been singin’ the song, singin’
Roll on highway, roll on along
Roll on daddy till you get back home
Roll on family, roll on crew
Roll on momma like I asked you to do
And roll on eighteen-wheeler
Roll on highway, roll on along
Roll on daddy till you get back home
Roll on family, roll on crew
Roll on momma like I asked you to do
And roll on eighteen-wheeler, roll on (roll on)
Eighteen-wheeler
Eighteen-wheeler
Eighteen-wheeler
Eighteen-wheeler
Roll on
Roll on
Roll on
Roll on
I had a great time road tripping with the husband. It’s probably one of my favorite things to do ever.  We travel great together.  This really is a very beautiful country we live in.  Glad to be home and sleeping in my own bed though.  Our family gained a beautiful new daughter.  Our Connor got married.  Welcome Melissa to the #frainsthename ❤  #frainsforever…Are they just the most adorable couple ever !!!

  1. Welcome back home and always good to see a happy new couple. the song is a good one. My oldest son drives a big rig and hauls cattle from the South to the West.We call them “Bull Haulers”

    • I really love all those 18 wheelers 🚛. We just stay in their jet stream. I figure there will be less collateral damage if he hits the deer 🦌. Nice to see you BCP… They really are a very sweet couple ♥️

    • It was wonderful!! Being a part of my Connie’s wedding 🎩 was what every Mother just longs for. She’s perfect and I love her so much. I love being part of their journey. Thanks for stopping by Mr. Jim 🍂🍁🍂
