Song Lyric Sunday

Happy Song Lyric Sunday Blogger’s…Today’s prompt from Jim is another great one, “Dream/Lullaby/Sleep.”  I’m going to go with Dream from probably my favorite musical of all time…Les Miserables.  My song this Sunday is, “I Dreamed A Dream.”  This recording was done by the amazing Idina Menzel and Lea Michelle.  There are many recordings of this and they are all so great I had a hard time choosing which one.  I think the mom & the daughter one got me though ❤ .

I Dreamed a Dream
There was a time when men were kind
When their voices were soft
And their words inviting
There was a time when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong
I dreamed a dream in times gone by
When hope was high and life worth living
I dreamed, that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
As they turn your dream to shame
He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came
And still I dream he’ll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather
I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I’m living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream
I dreamed
This is such a great musical and the movie was pretty darn good too.  Hoping everyone is having a great weekend and a happy start to their week ❤  Happy Song Lyric Sunday Blogger’s ❤   I thought I might also just sneak an original oil painting the husband did b/c he titled it, ” And The Tiger’s Come At Night.”  (he used some of the lyrics from this song, one of his favorite musicals too 🙂 “

  1. I’ve never seen the musical or movie of this, but the song seems sad that her dreams were never fulfilled.
    Love the oil painting!

  2. I loved the musical so much when I saw it on Broadway, that I bought the soundtrack on the way out. I like the song Master of the House the best, but this one is real lovely. Thanks for joining in again Scarlett.

  3. What a beautiful song! I’ve yet to see the musical Les Miserables, but I did have the amazing opportunity to see Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth in Wicked before Kristin left Broadway to become a Country & Western singer. This video clip is from the TV show “Glee”, I used to watch it, but not every season, so never saw this particular episode. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

    • You must see this play!! The live musical is a great way to see it first. Otherwise the movie with Hugh Jackmam As Jean Valjean…such an amazing story ♥️. Thanks for stopping by. Happy Monday
