Everything is beautiful at the ballet. Yes and it really is. There is the theater which is always a grand venue. The sets, so simple yet they will transport you to a different time and place. The pit orchestra, playing the notes readying themselves for the performance. Did you know there is a tv that the performer’s can watch so they can make sure the musicality (is spot on). There is so much bustle back stage and believe me I know because I am a dance mom. I have been one for years. I have not one but two professional ballet dancer’s. I call them my ballet boys. I know the are grown men, but they will always be my boys <3. I so would rather be in the audience watching my guys perform !!! Way too much stress back stage, with costumes and make-up. Then of course the dreaded curtain call, ” 5 M I N U T E S !!! ” I always wanted them to put their make-up on at home, but they always did it at the theater. The pictures below are from Romeo & Juliet performed by the Richmond Ballet this past February at the Carpenter Theater in Richmond, VA.
The theater is a great place to decompress and let your troubles all go away. For a couple of hours and acts you can be world’s away from reality…It really is very hard work to put on these productions. From the dancer’s, the musician’s, the techy’s i.e. lighting & stage, everything comes together that night for a 2/3 hour performance.
The arts are a thing of beauty and passion because you really have to put all of your heart and soul into every performance. When you see the performance this will be the first time you see them. The company on the other hand has been preparing this show for probably months. Over and over again, morning classes, scene rehearsals, setting and re-setting, in the studio, dress rehearsals in the theater, without the music, with the orchestra and then finally Opening Night !!! You only get one opening night.
Then there are the reviews and the press. Every performer will tell you that is one of the things they really want. My Connor got some really good press for his role in Romeo & Juliet (Richmond Ballet II). It was a proud moment for us and he just loved it…
He is Romeo, such a handsome Romeo ❤ with his beautius Juliet… ❤
I hope you enjoyed just a little peak into my ballet world that I have been living in for what seems a lifetime…Blessings A to Z Blogger’s ❤
