Portland, ME

Well I was just reading about our road trip to Maine.  I was looking at the pictures of Bar Harbor, ME.  It was absolutely breath taking.  Then I realized I had not put any of the pictures I took of our time spent in Portland.  It really was a wonderful road trip and we made a lot of good memories.  I’m glad I went back to look at what I already talked about so I won’t be repeating myself.

I left off with arriving in Portland, ME.  The hotel we stayed at was really lovely.  The Portland Harbor Hotel.  I think I already posted a picture of it, but here’s another one incase you  missed the first one.  You don’t have to go back and find it to see where we stayed.  It was a very nice hotel, nicer that the garden variety of Hyatt or Hilton Hotels.  I like to stay at those independent ones.  They just feel more personal, very cozy ❤

We spent a day in Portland.  It was a blast from our past.  We went to see our old home that we lived in for our short stay. It’s funny but when we were living there we didn’t take any pictures.  I guess that tells you how long we lived there for, a short stay.  A really short stay.

This was the home we lived in. It really looks rundown. It was much nicer when we lived in it. Looks like they have cut a lot of the trees down and they really brought a lot of beauty to the lot…

None of the old neighbors were there.  I got out and even looked.  Those Mainerd’s are kind of clannish.  They don’t like strangers, and I was a stranger.  After that we went to a fast food restaurant that we use to eat at all the time,IMG_2917

The food was just as good.  I had the lobster roll and Michael had the pizza rolls.  It was amazing, just how I remember it to be.  I should’ve taken a picture of the food, but if I remember correctly I was so hungry I just had to eat it.  This is as close to a picture of the sandwich I got, but you get the picture.

This was the grocery store I use to shop at in Scarborough, ME.  I went in and I bought as any cans of wild maine blueberries as I could.  I knew that would be such a good purchase, especially when I got back home.  I knew we would be craving blueberry anything and I was right.  If you ever get to Maine, make sure you get all the blueberries you can because you will be glad you did.  If you are a baker or like making pies and cakes, these are amazing and you can only get them in Maine. (I found something close to this on Amazon, but it’s better to get them right from the source.)

After those two stops we went and visited the kids old school. Not really worthy of pictures, they would only mean something to us and the kids. We did stop in our church that we attended there. St. Maximillian Kolbe. It was a nice church and the caretaker took us around and showed us all the changes that had been done. The priest that was pastor there when we were members died. He was a good man, as I can remember. Here are the pictures I took while there.

Then it was onto my husband’s favorite place in the whole world, Higgins Beach-Scarborough, ME.  The pictures I got were amazing and they were amazing because I just used my iPhone.  Who knew they could take such great pictures.  Maybe there is a future in photography for me.  Just say’n…Enjoy the pictures, which one is your favorite ??  Leave me a comment, would love to see if you agree with me which one is the best.

I guess this is where he spent a lot of his time.  He told me he use to go out there every morning before work.  I don’t even remember this place.  I know he always talked about it, but I guess it was just his place.  Wish I would of gone out there every morning because it was absolutely breath taking.  So peaceful, a great place to talk to God ❤

Well that was a really full morning.  Then we just had to go to The Portland Headlight.  It is a beautiful beach park with a gorgeous lighthouse.  It is one of the most photographed lighthouses in the country.  Another place you must visit if you go to Maine.

The husband building a rock tower because evidently that’s what you do when you are there. You build until it gets tall and then hope it doesn’t fall. It’s like leaving a little piece of yourself at the beach

Well we ended a very busy day with one last blast from the past.  We had dinner at Demillos.  It is a boat/restaurant right on the harbor in Portland.  The fish, I had lobster and  yes it had to be caught that day, so fresh.

Well I’m going to end this post with a few more pictures of the hotel we stayed at and a video I took while out on Higgins Beach.  I hope you enjoyed getting away and being in Maine with us for a bit.  It really is a beautiful state and a wonderful place to get away from it all.  Really it’s at the end of everything, and I loved it all.  Blessings ❤

Oh and I have one more video I think you’ll enjoy.  Really this road trip was as fun as it looked.  Every time me and the husband go somewhere together it’s the same feeling I had years before.  It’s like falling in love all over again.  I love you Michael, you are the best ❤
