Road Trip/Maine – Day 5

Well I haven’t posted in awhile because I/we have been on another road trip to Maine.  It has been absolutely wonderful.  The trees are just starting to paint the landscape.  The weather was beautiful until today, but I have always said that the weather in Maine is just so cool you don’t really care what it is.  If you are weather nut just like me, you just sit back and soak it all up.  Today, Wednesday-September 30th was like a mini Noreaster and it just was a very cool thing to watch from out hotel room which is overlooking Bar Harbor (pronounced like BAA HABAA).  I have been practicing my Maine accent for awhile and I’m sounding like one of the locals.  I did after all live in Maine when I was a teenager and again when I was in my late 30’s with my family.  It seems like 100 years ago.  But they are really good memories, and I really felt like I’ve come home.  The world really is a circle and sometimes you can go home again.

So today we just stayed in all day because the rain just came down and it rained and rained, oh did I mention that it rained today.  Didn’t care a bit b/c I had a perfect seat to watch.  I took some videos and I’ll post them when I get home because wi-fi isn’t great up here.

It really feels like being at the edge of the world.  We stopped in Portland, ME for a couple of days but I just thought I would start here because it’s fresh in my mine.  Oh the food is, well it is just out of this world.  There are no words for the Lobster Macaroni & Cheese.  Dessert today was Wild Maine Blueberry Pie ala mode.  OMG it was so good

It really was the best Blueberry Pie I have ever had.  I’m bringing home a tone of those blueberries.  The Lobster macaroni and cheese was the best I’ve ever had.  I doubt I’ll be losing any weight this trip.

And I here there’s a hurricane headed for Virginia, so I don’t think we’ll stay around for those fireworks (although it would be very cool to watch, I kind of don’t like the rain/flooding thing or driving in it. We are having a great time and I hope the rain will stay away so I can go shopping tomorrow (I think the husband didn’t mind staying in)  I’ll leave you with a funny/hysterical story.  I always get at least one on our road trip’s.

I didn’t let the husband pack for himself this trip, I said no more.  Seriously he doesn’t know how to pack.  It’s a right brain thing.  Well I went shopping to get him his sundries for the trip.  At the local shopping store they had a tower 10 for 10 of little travel items.  So I just threw in a disposable razor, deodorant, mouthwash, toothpaste, yadayadayada.  Packed the bag, put it with his suitcase of pj’s, t-shirts, socks & underwear.  So all he needed to do was take the bag when he went in the shower.  Now it is day five mind you and I don’t pay any attention to him showering and getting ready for the day.  Well today he came out of the shower, towel wrapped, and he was putting on his deodorant that I bought him.  As he was applying it, I noticed that there was all of this blue, gel type substance running down from his arm pits.  I said, “What are you doing?”  He replied this is some funky kind of deodorant.  It looked to me like it was a travel size Old Spice but on further examination it was an Old Spice travel size body soap, OMG.  Now this was the third day he was using it and it never occurred to him to read what it really was that he was using.  Even while I’m writing this, I’m laughing so hard I’m crying.  I really should’ve taken a picture.  He truly is an artist and he really does need me.  So today I did find a store and I got him a real stick of deodorant.  All I can do is smile and say I really do love that man.  He just goes along and trusts me to do the right thing.

I’ll post some pictures of our adventure in Portland, soon.  Blessing to you, I hope you are enjoying our trip ❤
