So it was my birthday this weekend, Saturday to be exact. I am a fifty something and my age doesn’t bother me a bit. I just really don’t like my birthday, idk why… I mean I know the world was changed forever the day I was born, and I hope for the better. My mantra is and always has been, “Do No Harm,” and leave the world a better place than when you came in.
I pretty much buy myself presents all week long. It’s more fun that way. I get what I want/need and I don’t have to return anything. Michael doesn’t mind, he always just lets me do what I do. I guess that’s why we have been happily married for 36 years. We don’t get in each other’s way, and we just love each other. It’s a pretty simple formula. So I got a new blender because my old one broke. I make these really good bf smoothies so it gets used a lot. I also got some new perfume and some new make-up. I am a product junkie and am in need of an intervention. But it’s really harmless.
My husband is just the best man alive. He took me out to Galena, IL. It is a quaint little corner of our world where we always had a great time with each other and our family. It is out by the Mississippi River so the bluffs are just spectacular. The town has a main street with little stores that don’t over charge for their goods. I usually get things that you can’t get back home. We bought taffy and popcorn. They have the best popcorn ever. All kinds of really original flavor’s. I got, “The Kitchen Sink,” and my husband got, “Memphis BBQ.” It was funny because on the way home we were eating the taffy and the popcorn. We had the taffy right up between us on the middle console in the car. OMG we getting so sick we had to put it away. We realized that we use to have the kids to blame for all the junk we would buy out there, but this time it was just us. Of course Michael said, “You were the one who wanted it !!!” We went to dinner at Fried Green Tomatoes (that’s the name of the restaurant.) It was lovely, and the weather was good too. A bit hot and drove through a couple of storms but nothing really to write home about.
We had a great time. Michael always puts things in perspective for me. He just gets me and loves me. My guys called and I got all kinds of FB props from my family & friends. So many things have changed in our lifetime. I can only imagine what the future has in store for all of us. One thing I’m pretty sure of is it won’t be boring !!!!
Well it’s late and I can’t find my pictures that I took. I’ll try to put them up tomorrow. It was a really good birthday and I was so happy to be out there celebrating the day I was born. I felt like I was back home, wrapped in a really comfortable blanket. I just thanked God for blessing me with good health and a great life. ❤ I am still writing my book, but I have some new insight into that too. Have a great evening, bloggers…
